Renaissance Wax as used by the British Museum for the preservation of antique arms and armour. With a 20 year shelf life (if kept cool or cold) renaissance wax when applied to your sword or knife lightly will leave a glass clear lustrous smooth finish, highly resistant to moisture, fingerprints and heat.
The Traditional Maintenance Kit (OH1003) is supplied with each piece in the “Forged Steel” and “Forged-Folded Steel” series and is also available separately. The kit contains blade oil, rice papers, an oiling cloth, a powder ball for blade polishing, a brass awl and hammer and saya shimming veneer. The kit is contained in a fitted wooden box.
Sword Oil (OH2110) is specially formulated to provide corrosion protection for high-carbon steel blades and other edged weapons. Contains Petroleum Distillates.

The Practical Katana gives the martial artist the opportunity to own and use a Hanwei sword at the cost of an economy sword. The blade is forged and differentially tempered, using the same process as the more expensive blades and producing an HRC60 edge and HRC40 back. The temper line is authentic and prominent. Cost savings are effected by using fittings which, while making no claims to authenticity, are very strongly built to withstand the rigors of cutting exercises in the dojo. Hanwei Paul Chen Practical PLUS Tanto
The Practical Plus Tanto (SH2259) provides a very economical cutting tanto, but uses more traditional fittings and construction methods. The blade is hand-forged high-carbon steel and differentially tempered using a traditional claying method (HRC 60 edge, HRC 40 spine) with a medium (chu) kissaki. The temper line (hamon) is evident and prominent. The Practical Plus Tanto uses a flat black saya and a black Japanese cotton sageo. The tsuka has genuine ray skin (same) and the tsuka-ito is black synthetic leather for better gripping qualities. The antiqued fittings on this set are decorated in a Japanese dogwood motif with a beautiful antiqued black sunburst tsuba. A great econimcal tanto with fantastic quality. Hanwei Paul Chen Practical PRO katana
Due to demand, the Practical Pro Katana (SH2162) has an extended tsuka and a thicker and longer blade. The blades are constructed from hand-forged, high-carbon steel and are differentially tempered using a traditional claying method. The Practical Pro has a fine polish to it compared to others in the series. The tsuka is wrapped with synthetic black leather for its gripping characteristics and is double-pegged for safety. The saya is done in a deep black lacquer with a black Japanese cotton sageo. The fittings (koshirae) are done in antiqued black iron. The katana is stylized with a round Kuruma tsuba, which represents the “Wheel of Dharma,” symbolizing the Buddhist concept of the Noble Eightfold Path. For those interested in an economical katana that can stand the rigors of heavy cutting (tameshigiri), the Practical Pro is an excellent choice. Hanwei Sword Bags
Due to demand, we offer high quality Sword Cases for your traveling needs. These sword cases are available in large size OH-2158 this will carry any combination of katanas or bokken and medium size OH-2159. They are constructed from black high-density fabric and the bottom of the bag is reinforced with thick leather. A shoulder strap and carrying handle are equipped on the cases for traveling convenience. Each case has two inside zipped-compartments for storage security and an outer compartment for maintenance supplies. These cases can hold a plethora of swords depending on various shapes and sizes. The two internal zipper compartments are ideal for storing your favourite katana without fear of knocking against your boken or other sword(s). The zip itself when closed can be pad-locked to a sturdy eyelet for extra security.
